Information for parents/guardians and students
All lessons take place online via zoom. You will be emailed a zoom link before the lesson and should ensure that the student has an adequate device for the lesson to take place on. The minimum requirements for this are a microphone and camera. The student is likely to find it easier on a laptop, computer or tablet, however lessons can also take place on a mobile phone.
All lessons will be between 50 minutes and 70 minutes, the aim is approximately an hour however lessons can often run slightly over/under.
To make the most of our sessions, I strongly suggest that students allow me to set them homework to complete outside of lessons. I discuss this on an individual basis with every student/guardian, as I understand that for differing reasons it may not be right for everyone. Having said this, I strongly encourage it in the vast majority of cases, as it is very important to see that the student can complete work on their own, as well as with my guidance in lessons. This allows the student to have the highest chance of showcasing their full potential in an exam, as they have practised questions independently. It is the responsibility of students and guardians to ensure that they are completing this work and revise independently outside of lessons in order to really make the most of our lessons and your education! Remember, tuition isn’t a quick fix and takes hard work from all parties involved in order to see results.
Due to the nature of online lessons, it is important to ensure that the student takes the lesson in an environment where distractions are minimised if possible. I cannot control distractions in the students own environment, so this is again the responsibility of students and guardians. Having said this, please do not worry if this isn’t entirely possible, siblings and pets can be hard to control so we can always work around such background distractions! If I have reason to believe that something in particular is a recurring distraction for a student, such as using their mobile phone during our lessons, then I will discuss this with their parent/guardian as I do not intend for anyone’s time/money to be wasted.
Payment & Cancellation Policy
Payment is taken via bank transfer. My bank details with Starling Bank are as follows, account number: 97978345, sort code: 608371, name: Ibrahim Ibrahim.
You can also choose to purchase a block of 10 or 20 lessons instead of paying weekly, this unlocks a 5% or 10% discount.
Lesson cancellations are fine and I understand that there is often the need to reschedule/cancel, however 48 hours notice is required. If the lesson is cancelled within 48 hours of the arranged start time, then payment is still required. This is because it is very difficult to fill a spot within 48 hours notice and this hour would otherwise have been spent teaching another student.
In the case that I am forced to reschedule/cancel a lesson, I will always let you know with as much notice as possible. If it is for some reason not possible to give 48 hours notice, I will discuss compensation with you for the inconvenience. Eg/a rescheduled lesson with a discount.
Ibrahim Ibrahim Tuition reserves the right to terminate ongoing tuition at anytime, if I feel that this is required for any reason.
Before your 1st trial lesson
The trial lesson will always run smoother if you have previously let me know a specific topic/area of study that you would like to focus on, so that I can prepare resources beforehand. After the first lesson, we can discuss this at the end of every lesson for the next lesson. However, you can always get in touch before a lesson to let me know what you’d like to focus on as this is always useful.
Some parents wish to sit in on the trial lesson, or any lesson, and this is absolutely fine. You can let me know if you would like to join as a different zoom user to observe a lesson, or if you wish to sit with your child during the lesson, this option is always available.
There is absolutely no obligation to continue with the tuition following the free 1st trial lesson, however I urge you to only attend the trial lesson if you have the intention of finding a tutor and are truly interested in continuing. If you are already aware that you are not willing to continue following the free trial lesson, then please do not proceed with it.
